We will be using a zoom account which allows for up to 300 participants, so there won’t be the difficulties we had last time with the zoom account unable to cope with the number of people wanting to join.
Over the last few days I’ve joined picket lines from Stokes Croft in Bristol to TMS, and everywhere the response has been phenomenal. We’ve had a lot of friendly chats with people walking past and approving honks from motorists including bus drivers, Council workers, and even a police car! The public are on our side as never before.
It’s also clear that people who are still working are often conflicted, agreeing with the strike but feeling they can’t join for financial or other reasons. Please explain to them about strike pay and the hardship fund (which we’ll provide more information about at Monday’s meeting) – and keep talking to them about why the strike is necessary. We worked hard for a long time trying to get a sensible response from senior management and if we could have avoided this strike, we would have done.
