Dear friends
At yesterday’s meeting, St Mungo’s Unite members unanimously decided to reject the pay offer from management.
Whether you were present at the meeting or not, it is very important that you vote in the online poll to express your opinion on the offer. Here’s the link to vote

The union’s role is to represent you. I will tell you what I think, but it’s important that you make up your own mind and vote as you see fit.
Last year, we suffered a real terms pay cut which has left many members struggling to pay for rent, fuel and food. Inflation has a smoke-and-mirrors effect on perceptions about money. A real terms pay cut is indefinite until something is done to correct it. We will be on lower wages than we were two years ago – in real terms – until we get an increase to make up for the cut in 2021/22.
Management’s offer is for a one-off ‘cost of living payment’ for only this year. Unless you expect prices to come down again next year, that doesn’t make sense. The increase in the cost of living is permanent and we need a wage increase so that the real value of our wages does not keep falling.
I therefore hereby announce that St Mungo’s CEO, Emma Haddad, and the Board of Directors are officially on the naughty list for trying to get away with a temporary sticking plaster to address a problem they have a responsibility to resolve. A virtual lump of coal is on its way to each of them. If you want to help them back on the nice list next year, you need to remind them of their responsibilities and show them that they need to change.
Please vote in the online ballot to reject management’s offer and put the attached poster on the wall in your workplace www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/W5SRMTP
