Dear colleagues
Today is the first payroll run where we feel the benefits of our strike win.
Your wages are now £100 a month higher (pro-rata for part-time workers). After the sacrifices made during the strike, it’s good to know that we will continue to see the benefit of our win into the future.
So will our clients. Better pay is good for staff morale, retention and recruitment. In the future, people who are supported by St Mungo’s are more likely to have consistent support from the same worker and fewer workers will be distracted from their work by their own financial difficulties. Happy staff means happy clients.
Next month, you will see the benefit of the annual NJC increase, also backdated to April. That’s a Unite win too; after the merger of Broadway and St Mungo’s in 2014, senior management wanted to ditch the NJC payscales altogether and push all workers in the merged organisation onto abysmally low Broadway rates. Decisive action by Unite prevented that.
Your union continues to work for you. If anyone in your team isn’t a member, please ask them to join today using this link https://join.unitetheunion.org/
Best wishes
Jacob
