Dear colleagues
Following the 98% vote to authorise industrial action in the consultative ballot, Unite has activated the Avoidance of Disputes Procedure with St Mungo’s.
We do not want to strike, but our terms and conditions depend on being willing to strike if we have to. Back in 2014, management told us it was impossible to agree to our demands. We went on strike and they changed their minds – and new workers joining St Mungo’s today are still better off because of that, as we all are.
We will do everything we can to persuade management to reach an agreement. Please continue to talk about these issues with your colleagues at St Mungo’s. Please encourage non-members to join and make everyone aware of what is at stake. By doing so, you increase the likelihood that we can resolve this without the need for industrial action.
Among the many recent Unite successes is an increased payrise for workers at One Housing Group, brought about through a threat of industrial action. When workers stand together, we win.
solidarity,
Jacob
